In 1940, Ivan Bilousko was called up for military service. After graduating from a military school in the summer of 1942, he joined the active army. He took part in the storming of Berlin. He was seriously wounded twice. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Red Banner, the Red Star, and two Orders of the Patriotic War, II class. The brave tanker did not live to see Victory Day for 10 days. In our country and in Germany, the feat of the fearless warrior has not been forgotten. The exhibits of the village folk museum tell about his life and exploits. On 22 September 1979, a monument to I.V. Biousko was unveiled in the village of Abazivka, and in 1982, the main street of the village was named after him. A memorial plaque was erected on a street in the Neukölln district of Berlin. It bears an inscription in Russian and German: ‘Here, on 25 April 1945, the tank crew of First Lieutenant I. V. Bilousko performed a heroic feat.’
