In 1942, O. Saburov's partisan unit was based in the village. Partisans called Novovasylivka their sanatorium. Wounded partisans were being treated here. The partisan hospital was located in the village school. Residents of the village provided the partisans with food and cared for the sick. In September 1942, when the partisans were raiding the enemy's rear, the punishers surrounded the village, burned several houses, and 26 residents died. Fearing revenge, the Nazis retreated. In the first days of May 1943, the occupiers again took possession of the village, and leaving it, brutally dealt with the inhabitants, 130 inhabitants were shot. In May 1980, a reinforced concrete stele was installed at the entrance to the village, on which a memorial plaque with an inscription was fixed.
