Mykhailo Ivanovich Dragomirov (November 9, 1830, Konotop - October 15, 1905, ibid.) - general, author of many works on tactics and the training and education of troops, a participant in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-78. A famous military figure, reformer and publicist , the hero of Shipka, the commander of the forces of the Kyiv Military District, the governor-general of Kyiv, Podilsk and Volhynia, a member of the State Duma of Russia. His work "Tactical Textbook" served as a manual at the Academy of the General Staff for more than 20 years. He was buried in the family crypt near the Ascension Church in Konotopa. The grave is surrounded by a metal fence with a door. A wooden cross was installed on the grave and a marble slab with an annotated inscription was placed.
