In 1989, the monument to the Warrior-Liberator acquired its modern appearance. To raise funds for the renovation of the monument, a special fund was created in the city executive committee. After the restoration, he is not wearing a raincoat-tent, but a warm overcoat, a flag and a machine gun above his head. Memorial plates with cannon shells mounted in them appeared near the monument.
