In February 1942, on the basis of separately operating partisan units, the Sumy partisan unit was formed (unit commander - S. Kovpak, commissar - S. Rudnev, chief of staff connection - G. Bazima). February 1, 1942 at a partisan rally in the village of Novoselitsa announced the creation of the Sumy Partisan Union. In 1975, a memorial sign was erected in memory of the creation of partisan units of the Sumy partisan unit: a reinforced concrete slab of a rectangular shape on a two-step concrete base. A memorial plaque with an inscription is attached to the upper part of the memorial sign.
