On March 10, 1943, the Nazis committed a brutal massacre of the villagers. The atrocities were caused by the fact that the day before, March 7, 1943, the village was liberated by soldiers of the 29th ski-rifle brigade of the Central Front. Three days later, the Nazis occupied the village again and began to persecute its inhabitants. In one day, 394 residents of the village were burned and shot. This day entered the history of the village as the "Ivotsk Tragedy". In 1976, a concrete sculpture of a woman and a child engulfed in flames was installed in the center of the village. To the left and right of the sculpture are two cemented brick steles on which 19 white marble boards are fixed. There are memorial inscriptions on the ceilings.
