Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi was a Ukrainian mathematician, mechanic and physicist.
He was a member of the Cossack family of Ostrogradsky, descended from his bunchek comrade Ivan Ostrogradsky, who lived in the 17th century. Mykhailo Ostrogradsky is considered one of the leading mathematicians of the mid-19th century. In 2001, UNESCO included Mykhailo Ostrogradsky in the list of the world's outstanding mathematicians.
