The monument to Yaroslavna is erected on the territory of the so-called Gorodok, which served as a fortified community center in the eighth century. From here, Princess Yaroslavna accompanied her husband, Prince Igor, on a campaign, and here she received the sad news of the defeat of the army and the capture of the prince. Climbing the city wall, Yaroslavna wept, addressing the river: "Bring my tears to the sea..." That's how the sculptor depicted her: raising her hands to the sky, appealing to higher powers, a loving woman begs for protection and salvation. The image of Yaroslavna became a symbol of peace, family ties and love. The monument to Princess Yaroslavna can rightfully be called the hallmark of the glorious city of Putivl.
