In the second half of January 2014, on the initial section of Mykhailo Hrushevskoho Street (between European Square and Museum Lane), there were many days of mass clashes between Euromaidan participants and the Interior Ministry units, which resulted in the deaths of the first Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. To commemorate the Revolution, its participants and the fallen, on February 10, 2014, the "Icons of the Revolution" were created on the facade of the National Academy of Sciences building at 4 Hrushevskoho Street. In the same year, with the assistance of the initiative of the Museum of Freedom/Maidan Museum, they were granted the status of historical monuments, number 240: "The site of hostilities and mass deaths in the area of Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv during the protests in February 2014, 2014, Hrushevskoho Street, 1, 2, 3, 4.
