Borovykovskyi died on December 26, 1889 at the age of 81. He was buried at the Maliarenko cemetery, not far from the estate. Borovykovskyi’s grave was found by Khorol students under the guidance of a local history teacher K. O. Khodosov. In 1961, a brick obelisk was installed on the grave, which was replaced by a marble monument in 1986.
