In 1893, the outstanding Ukrainian poet, fabulist, publisher, public figure Leonid Ivanovich Hlibov was buried on the territory of the Chernihiv Trinity-Illinsky Monastery, near the southern wall of the Trinity Cathedral and not far from the Vvedensky refectory church. The first monument on the grave appeared in 1899, it was a tombstone with a portrait of L. I. Hlibov and was crowned with a cross. On the back edge were engraved poems by V. I. Samiylenko. In 1939, this tombstone was moved to the Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Memorial Museum, where it is still exhibited, and it was replaced by a sculptural image of the poet on a pedestal.
