Dragomirov Mikhail Ivanovich (1830-1905) Born in Konotop An outstanding military leader and theorist of the art of war. Hero of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. National Hero of Bulgaria. He is an honorary member of Moscow and Kiev universities, the Royal Norwegian Military Academy, and a member of the French National Military Society.

Mikhail Ivanovich Dragomirov (1830-1905) was a military general, Russian military leader, theorist, teacher, hero of the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878. In 1878 Dragomirov was appointed head of the Academy of the General Staff. From August 13, 1889 he was the commander of the troops of the Kyiv Military District. His works were translated into foreign languages and included in the arsenal of outstanding works of world military literature. In the summer of 1903, General Dragomirov resigned and moved to Konotop, where he settled in his house. He was elected an honorary member of Kyiv and Moscow universities, an honorary member of the Swedish-Norwegian Royal Military Academy in Stockholm, an honorary justice of the peace of the Kyiv district and a member of the State Council. The French government awarded him the Legion of Honor.
