The monument of monumental art
It is listed in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine under the category of local significance (protection 2473-Pl). Order of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine dated 25.02.2020 № 1062
The monument was unveiled on the 150th anniversary of the poet's birth, and on the days of his 200th anniversary, Lubny residents laid flowers to the renovated memorial (authors - sculptors D. Korshunov and V. Holub, architect - A. Shmondenko, artist - V. Pashkevych).
Taras Shevchenko visited Lubny district in 1843, 1845, and 1846. As an employee of the Kyiv Archaeological Commission, in the summer of 1845 Shevchenko traveled extensively throughout Ukraine, collecting folklore and archaeological materials and sketching architectural and historical monuments. He visited the site of the last battle of Severin Nalyvaiko's rebels in Solonytsia, visited the Mgar Monastery, and visited Castle Hill in Lubny. And in October, while celebrating a road trip in the city, he met with his old friend, writer and ethnographer Oleksandr Afanasiev-Chuzhbynskyi, whom he later visited in Iskivtsi. The village cherishes the memory of Taras Shevchenko, and every year at the end of May, Shevchenko holidays are held near Shevchenko's well.
