Back during the German-Soviet war, 107 Soviet soldiers from the 40th Army units were buried in the village of Simianivka, Konotop district, who died in early October 1941 during the defensive battles for the village. Also buried here are soldiers of the 487th Rifle Regiment of the 143rd Rifle Division; the 985th Rifle Regiment, the 730th Artillery Regiment, and the 348th Separate Reconnaissance Company of the 226th Motorized Rifle Division who died in the battles for the liberation of the village from the Nazi invaders on 7 September 1943. The names of all the victims are known. In 1958, the remains of the fallen soldiers from different places were transferred to a mass grave, where a sculpture of a soldier was installed in the same year. The side plates are engraved with the names of the liberators. In 1977, the site was reconstructed. The sculpture of the soldier was removed. A concrete stele was erected behind the grave, and a reinforced concrete sculpture of a woman was placed to the left of the stele.
