During the German-Soviet war, soldiers of the 293rd Rifle Division of the 40th Army, who died during the capture of Sumy region in late September - early October 1941 during the defensive battles for the village, and soldiers of the 520th, 465th, 86th, 21st, 498th, 615th Rifle Regiments of the 180th Rifle Division were buried here. Soldiers of the 492nd Mortar Regiment are also buried here. who died during the liberation of the village from the Nazi invaders in late February – early March and August 18, 1943 and died of wounds in August – September 1943 in the hospitals stationed in the village. In 1959, the remains of the fallen soldiers from different places in the village were transferred to the center to the mass grave. The exact number of those buried in the grave has not been established.
During the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the monument was damaged. As a result of an airstrike on the night of March 9-10, 2022, the blast wave destroyed the sculptural monument and damaged the memorial plaques with the names of the buried
