During the German-Soviet war, 271 Soviet soldiers were buried on the territory of the village of Velyka Pysarivka, including servicemen of the 21st Army, who died during the defensive battles for the village in October 1941, as well as soldiers of the 332nd, 318th Rifle Regiments, the 45th Separate Tank Battalion of the 20th Separate Tank Division of the 40th Army. soldiers of the 217th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 241st Rifle Division, the 2nd Guards Tank Battalion of the 4th Kantemirov Tank Corps of the 27th Army, the 22nd Rifle Regiment, the 272nd Rifle Regiment of the 6th Army, who took part in the liberation of the village from the Nazi invaders in February and August 1943, and also died of wounds in field hospitals No. 5187, 57,183 between August and November 1943. The village was finally liberated on August 8, 1943. The names of all the dead are known. A partisan of the Velyka Pysarivka partisan detachment Puryk Yakym Maksymovych, who died in March 1943, is also buried in the mass grave. In 1956, a reinforced concrete sculpture of a warrior on a brick pedestal was installed on the grave.
During the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the monument on March 7, 2022, was damaged by the military of the Russian Armed Forces.
