Order dated 02.03.10 No. 58/0/16-10
918. Founded in 1925 immediately after the death of Kotovsky, the mausoleum was destroyed during the Second World War and restored in 1965 in its modern form. The Kotovsky Mausoleum is one of two mausoleums on the territory of Ukraine.
As part of the decommunization law, in September 2016, the Podilsk town Council decided to rebury Hryhoriy Kotovskyi at the city cemetery No. 1. However, this decision remains unfulfilled, as the town Council must obtain permission from the relatives for the reburial. According to the explanation of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the building itself is not subject to the law on decommunization, as it is a burial place.
For a long time, the mausoleum was closed to visitors because it was in a neglected state. In 2018, the complex was reconstructed at the expense of the city budget.
