The Monument to Magdeburg Law in Kyiv (Column of Magdeburg Law, also the Monument to the Baptism of Rus; lower monument to St. Volodymyr) is a monument in honor of the return of Magdeburg Law to Kyiv, located in the historic Khreshchatyk tract. The monument is traditionally considered the oldest existing monument in Kyiv. The monument was erected in honor of the return of Magdeburg Law to the city in 1802, which it first received in the 15th century. Kyivans celebrated this event for three days with illuminations and balls, and later raised 10 thousand rubles for the construction of a chapel and a monument with a fountain.
