Volya Yakubova is the native village of Andrii Melnyk, the founder of the OUN and a prominent figure of the Ukrainian nationalist movement. In 1929, the OUN was created. On October 12, 1938, Colonel Andriy Melnyk became the head of the OUN. In 1940, he was sent to German concentration camps. After the split of the OUN, he became the head of one of its parts, which was called "Melnikovskaya". He died on November 1, 1964 in exile.
