Hryhoriy Mykytovych Vakulenchuk is a Ukrainian and Russian artillery non-commissioned officer of the Black Sea Fleet, the organizer and first leader of the uprising on the Potemkin tank ship. In 1898, he began serving in the Black Sea Fleet. In 1900, he graduated from the mine-artillery school and was appointed commander of the "Prince Potemkin-Tavriiskyi" squadron tank. Monuments to Grigory Vakulenchuk were installed in the village of Velyki Korovyntsi (Zhytomyr region) and in Odesa. The village of Velyki Korovyntsi-2 was also renamed Vakulenchuk in his honor in 1984.
