A memorial sign in memory of the victims of the Austrian genocide was erected in 1929 at the initiative of the then pastor of the Church of the Nativity in Galicia, Mykola Vinnytskyi (1856-1929), one of the surviving prisoners of the Thalerhof concentration camp[1]. After returning home from prison, Father Mykola considered it his duty to honor the memory of those killed in Talerhof. However, the monument was erected after his death, so Fr. Mykola Vinnytskyi - Mykola Mykolayovych Vinnytskyi - is listed first in the list of "Talerhof citizens". The names of twenty more residents of Halych, tortured in Talerhof, are engraved on the monument. A total of 127 residents of Halych passed through the Thalerhof concentration camp.
