In 1941-1944, the "Nord-oflag 365" (Stalag 12) concentration camp, organized by the Nazi occupiers, operated in Volodymyr-Volynskyi. In general, during the three years of Hitler's occupation, more than 25 thousand prisoners of war were shot here, died of hunger, epidemics and torture, according to various sources. A total of 42,000 prisoners were tortured behind barbed wire.
