For the people of Lviv, Mickiewicz has always been, is, and will be the embodiment of the noblest ideal of love for the Motherland and self-sacrifice. Mickiewicz's column became a symbol of Lviv's national feelings. In front of it, the people of Lviv manifested all their sorrows and joys. From under the column, the children of Lviv went to fight for independence, in front of it, they protested against the resolutions of the Peace of Brest, in front of it, in the end, the coat of arms of Lviv was decorated with the Order of "Military Virtues".
