The grave of the artist Ivan Soshenko, a teacher, friend of Taras Shevchenko, is located in Korsun-Shevchenko on Jubilee Street. Ivan Soshenko was buried in 1876 at the old city Boguslavsky cemetery, which existed from the beginning of the 17th century and was closed in the early 1960s. On the site of the cemetery in 1967, a square was laid, which was called the Jubilee Park, and in 2009 it was renamed the square named after I. Soshenko. The name of the artist is also the street leading to the grave.
On the grave was a granite tombstone with a carved image of a cross in an arcuate frame, installed at the expense of Bartholomew Shevchenko, second cousin and brother-in-law Taras Shevchenko. A black marble plaque is attached to the tombstone, on which the artist's surname, name, patronymic, date of death and age are indicated. The granite tombstone in 1986 was replaced by the monument "Muse" (sculptor - Edward Kuntsevich, architect - Konstantin Sidorov) in the form of a figure of a woman with a palette and brushes in her hand, leaning over a scroll with a bas-relief of the artist (stolen by unknown persons in 2018). On the scroll was an inscription: "Friend of the great Kobzar artist and teacher Ivan Maksimovich Soshenko (1807-1876)." And only in 1992 an old tombstone was installed next to the grave.
In 2015, at the expense of philanthropists, the adjacent territory was reconstructed: tiles were replaced, curbs were installed, lighting was restored.
The outstanding Ukrainian poetess Lina Kostenko, having visited the grave of the artist, wrote the poem "Monument to I.M. Soshenko."
