Mikhail Maksimovich - natural scientist, historian, folklorist, writer. Due to the versatility of his talent, he left an equally noticeable mark both in the field of natural science, botany, chemistry, zoology, physics, which he actively studied in 1823-1834, and in the fields of linguistics, folklore, ethnography, history, archeology, which he devoted to them the later period of his activity until the last days of his life. As an outstanding scientist, public figure, teacher and educator, he was one of the initiators of the struggle for the cultural development of the Ukrainian people.
