Lev Platonovych Simyrenko (1855-1920) is an outstanding Ukrainian pomologist and horticulturist, the founder of the Mliiv Research Station of Horticulture. While studying in Odessa, he became close to revolutionary circles. In 1879, he was arrested and exiled to the Krasnoyarsk Territory, from where he returned to Mliev after 10 years. In the village of Mliiv, he created a pomological nursery, on the basis of which in 1920 the Mliiv scientific research station of horticulture and fruit and vegetable growing was created. Brought out the world-famous apple variety Renet Simyrenko. On the night of January 7, 1920, a bandit's bullet cut short the life of an outstanding scientist-horticulturist L.P. Simyrenko The scientist was buried on the territory of the Sadstation. In 1952, a memorial sign was placed on the grave by local craftsmen, following a joint decision of the party committee and the trade union committee of the sad station.
