Buried residents of Romna, Romna District, Sumy Region. and Talalaiv district (now Chernihiv region). Including prisoners of war, communists, underground, shot and tortured by the Nazis during the period of temporary occupation from September 12, 1941 to September 15, 1943. The bodies of shot and dead prisoners of war from the Roman prison and four concentration camps created within the city were dumped in the trenches and quarries. On the eve of the liberation of Romna, the Nazi command took out and shot in the area of the village. Gerasimivka has several hundred inmates of the prison. In 1960, the remains of about 2,000 victims of fascism were reburied in a mass grave. In 1961, a reinforced concrete obelisk with an inscription on its front side was installed on the grave.
