Oleksandr Oleksandrovich Palitsyn is an educator, architect, and poet. He was born in Popivka farm (now part of Zaliznyak village in Sumy Oblast). Was in military service in St. Petersburg. After retiring, he settled in his estate, where he founded the educational circle "Pope's Academy", whose members were famous cultural figures. H.Skovoroda visited the "Academy". P. gathered a collection of art canvases, which he handed over to Kharkiv University (the Kharkiv Museum of Fine Arts was created on its basis). He devoted time to literary work. In 1810, he was elected an honorary member of the Presidium of Kharkiv University. According to his projects, several houses and churches were built in Sumy Oblast.
