The monument has a genre character. The poet seems to be sitting on a high steppe grave, a mound or a hill in a position of deep contemplation - with his head down, his eyes directed to the ground, his left hand rests on the hill, his right hand rests freely on his knee, supporting a book. Dressed in a jacket and a Ukrainian shirt with a tied ribbon. The last detail complements and specifies the image. The author masterfully uses the composition with a stylized grave and a large-scale figure, which in its contours seems to repeat the mountain, to give the image of monumentality and scale. Each part of the placement on the three-step pedestal is visible from any point of view.
