Oleksandr Opanasovych Potebnya (September 22, 1835, Maniv village, near the village of Grishine - December 11, 1891, Kharkiv) - an outstanding linguist, folklorist, literary critic, teacher, corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1877), master of Slavic philology ( 1860), doctor of philological sciences (1874), professor (1875). He came from a Cossack family. The monument is a vertical slab of broken granite on a cement base resting on a flat concrete stylobate. On the front side in the upper part of the stele - a cast-iron memorial plaque with a relief portrait of the scientist and a dedicatory inscription. The path leading to the ceiling and the area in front of it are paved with square concrete slabs.
