One of the places of mass burials of victims of Nazism was a well on the street. Karl Marx in Romny, into which 29 Soviet citizens were thrown in February 1943, strangled with rope loops. Among them is T. Miroshnichenko, an instructor of the district committee, with his four-year-old son, who were arrested on February 27, 1943 and, after a long struggle, were killed and thrown into a well. In May 1943, the punishers cleared the well of corpses. The remains of 29 victims, among whom only T. Miroshnichenko and his son were identified, were buried in a pit above the Mukhovets abyss opposite the furniture factory, and in 1954 they were reburied at the city cemetery. An obelisk was installed on the site of the well, replaced in 1991 by a stele with a memorial inscription.
