A steam mill is a mill driven by a steam engine. At the end of the 19th century the first steam mills appear, later - also mills with oil and gas generator engines, which produced a large amount of flour and of a higher quality. In the 90s of the XIX century. in Nizhyn, a steam mill with a capacity of 17 horsepower was already operating at the flour mill and groats plant, which processed 60-70 thousand poods of various types of flour per year.
