Buried residents of the village were shot by German-fascist invaders during the temporary occupation of the village in 1941-43. During the Second World War, residents of the village The Volokytins helped S. Kovpak's partisan unit with food and were liaisons. The occupiers brutally dealt with the unruly village: 248 people were shot and tortured, 5 died after torture. In 1973, the remains of those buried from different places were transferred to a mass grave, on which a reinforced concrete sculpture of a grieving woman on a brick pedestal was installed in the same year. To the right of the mass grave, there are three reinforced concrete steles with a memorial inscription and the names of 209 compatriot soldiers who died during the Second World War.
