The partisan detachment began its formation on 27 September 1941, on the eve of the withdrawal of Red Army units from the territory of the Shyshaky district, and completed its formation on 30 September 1941, when the front line had already moved further east. It consisted of 14 people. 47-year-old Dmytro Danylovych Kornilich, who had worked as the head of the Shyshaky district executive committee before the war, was appointed commander of the detachment. The detachment's commissar was 32-year-old Kupriyan Yosypovych Tutka, the first secretary of the Shyshaky district committee of the CP(B)U. On 12 June 1942, the district police raided Kupriyan Tutka's house. There were few forests in the Poltava region, and it was difficult to hide. In the forest on the territory of the Kuibyshev village council, he was surrounded, and Tutka fought back for a long time, refused to surrender, and shot himself with his last bullet.
