Dusia Borodai, a Komsomol member, was a scout for the Tutko partisan unit. The police tracked her down, captured her and handed her over to the Gestapo. The Nazis tortured the young scout, doused her with water in the cold, and then shot her. It happened on 25 March 1942. At the expense of the district's Komsomol members, a bust of the brave Komsomol member was erected in the courtyard of the Baranivka Eight-Year School, where Dusia Borodai worked as a pioneer educator. The school was named after the heroine.
