Maidan Mark Stepanovych [27.09.1913, p. Pushkarivka - 11.10.1945, Kiskunlatskhaza (Hungary)] - Hero of the Soviet Union (24.03.1945). He was born in a peasant family. He graduated from the Pushkariv seven-year school, after which he worked at the Sumy Refinery. Later, he entered the robotics department of the Sumy Pedagogical Institute. He worked as a teacher in the village. Velikiy Zhvanchyk in Khmelnytskyi. In the active army - from September 1943. He fought against the Nazi invaders on the Western and Second Belorussian Fronts. In June 1944, a group of Soviet soldiers seized a bridgehead on the banks of the Neman River, the Nazis continuously counterattacked. Up to 150 enemy soldiers were killed in the battles to hold the bridgehead. M.Maidan was wounded in this battle. On June 15, 1944, units of the 64th Mogilev Rifle Division, 49th Army of the Second Belorussian Front successfully crossed the river in this section and occupied the settlement of Lunnu (now the Republic of Belarus, Grodno Region, Mostovsky District). Private M.Maidan was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his courage and bravery during the fording of the Neman River. After recovery, he took part in the liberation of Poland and Hungary. On the approaches to Budapest in early February 1945, he was wounded. Died of wounds. He was buried in a mass grave in Kiskunlatzhaza (Hungary). One of the streets of the village. Pushkarivka bears his name. In 1966, a concrete bust on a metal pedestal was installed in the Hero's homeland. On the front side of the pedestal is a granite board with an inscription.
