The bust of the poet made of reinforced concrete is placed on a high, trapezoidal, plastered brick pedestal, on the front side of which is an annotated inscription made in superimposed letters. In conveying Kobzar's appearance, the author followed the path of imitating at least two portraits of Shevchenko: the work of I. Kramsky and "Self-Portrait" (1861). The second, less common iconographic type is reproduced in the sculpture, which significantly increases the value of the monument. The large-scale discrepancy of the pedestal in relation to the bust, its unjustified height, can be considered not a defect, but the author's desire for general monumentalization of the image.
